Bike Bus
All aboard the Bike Bus— a fun ride to school!
The HUB’s Bike Bus is coming back after spring break! Kids can join a fun, safe, and active ride to school, rain or shine, with experienced instructors and volunteers leading the way every Friday morning until the end of the school year.
For info on how to volunteer, check out the attached poster. You can get some inspiration here. Let’s get our students moving and riding together!
What is a Bike Bus?
A Bike Bus is like a school bus, but on bikes! A designated route with pick up/drop off points where students can join, and a HUB Cycling certified bike instructor will lead the group to and from school along with adult volunteers. It's a great way to encourage cycling, build community, and make the commute more enjoyable.
Where is the bike route?
The Bike Bus will run in the mornings only on Fridays and there will be TWO different routes:
EAST ROUTE:
Stop #A: E 10th Ave and Windsor
Stop #B: E 14th Ave and Prince Albert St.
Stop #C: Robson Park, next to the playground
Stop #4: Nightingale Elementary: arriving via the gates at St. George St & 12th Ave
NORTH ROUTE:
Stop #1: Olympic Village Square near The Birds
Stop #2: E 5th Ave East of Main St.
Stop #3: Mount Pleasant Elementary at E 7th Ave & Guelph St.
Stop #4: Mount Pleasant Elementary: arriving via the gates at Guelph St & 11th Ave
Parents, we’d love more volunteer help! Please send us an email if you’re available.
Why Participate?
Fun and Fitness: Cycling is a great way to get some exercise and fresh air before school.
Community Building: It's a chance to connect with other families and meet friends along the way!
Environmental Benefits: Reducing car traffic helps improve air quality and reduces our carbon footprint.
Convenience: In most cases it's a more convenient option than driving!
Interested?
We'd love for your family to join us! We welcome children across all grades, though basic experience with riding is recommended. All parents/caregivers are welcome to join. You do not have to participate every week, or do the return trip if your children have after school activities. In order for us to plan please read and sign this registration form, even if you plan to attend occasionally.
Parents, if you’re able to volunteer, let us know!
